Great insight here from Mr. Art Boncato of the Marco Polo Hotel Davao. On selling Davao as a whole and not just the tourism and accommodation spots. We should try to pitch to potential visitors the positive aspects of Davao City. A lot has been said about the negative history of Davao, such as the bombings and insurgency, and yet what we in Davao consider as the past is still vividly embedded in the mind of those who are outside, looking into our town, from a distance.
Who else?, but us Davaoeno’s should take the cudgels in promoting the true and beautiful side of the City and its people. When I say Davaoeno’s I don’t specifically limit it to those who were born here, but Filipino’s and foreigners alike who have one way or another called this City of ours home.
Davao has a lot to offer as a tourist destination, pristine white beaches in the Island Garden City of Samal and highland resorts in the TRIAD area. All these are but a short distance travel to the city proper.
