UP Mindanao Dean Vacancy is open for nomination

College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) Dean, Dr. Antonio R. Obsioma, and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Dean, Dr. Antonio G. Moran’s terms are set to expire on December 9, 2007. UP-Mindanao Chancellor, Gilda C. Rivero, has engaged two committees to facilitate the nominations for the deanships left by these two stellar academicians.

Nominations are open to the public and not limited to those within UP-Mindanao. Deadlines for the nominations are on October 3 5:00 pm for the CHSS deanship, and October 5 5:00 p.m. for the CSM deanship.

The qualifications are:

Commitment to academic freedom and the values and ideals of the University.
Distinction or outstanding academic credentials in the nominee’s chosen field of expertise, which should be along the disciplines or fields of the respective colleges.
Must be a Filipino citizen.
Possess leadership qualities and administrative or managerial capability.
Have with a willingness to serve.
He/She considers resource generation as an important function of the position.

Nominations may be submitted by the following individuals, sectors or groups:

Personnel (faculty or non-faculty) of CHSS or CSM (the colleges left by the out going deans)
Students and alumni
Others from outside the unit
any interested candidate.

The nominators (individuals or groups) should submit a signed letter containing the justification for the nomination with a summary of the nominee’s CV(not more than 3 pages).

The nominee should submit: a letter indicating his/her acceptance of the nomination and willingness to serve; and his / her flagship projects for the college.

The documents should be submitted to either of the two Search Committees at UP Mindanao, Mintal, Tugbok District or through their respective chairpersons: Erwin E. Protacio (for the CSM deanship), Chair of the Search Committee for the CSM Dean, or through his e-mail: eeprotacio@upmin.edu.ph; or Prof. Ruth U. Gamboa, Chair of the Search Committee for the CHSS Dean, or through her email: ruthupmin@yahoo.com (for the CHSS deanship).
