Two New Judges for the Davao Regional Trial Court

May 1st, 2008 --

Two practising lawyers have been elevated by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to Judgeship in order to fill the void in the Davao Regional Trial Court. This was on recommendation by the Philippine Judicial & Bar Council last January 31, 2008.

Attorney. Ridgway Tanjili was chosen as the new judge of Branch 15 after the retirement of Judge Jesus Quitain. Judge Quitain had retired last year leaving the seat vacant for a year. Atty Tanjili was previously director of the Public Attorney’s Office in Region XI before assuming the vacant post at Branch 15. He had been with the PAO for 16 years rising to the level of Director.

Judge Tanjili acquired his law degree from the Ateneo de Davao University Law School, one of the most prestigious and famous law schools in the Philippines.

Attorney Jose Emmanuel Castillo meanwhile was placed as presiding judge for Branch 10. Prior to that he was the Executive Judge of the Municipal Trial Courts & Cities (MTCC) and concurrent Presiding Judge of Branch 1.

The two judges will assume their bench work on either May or June as soon as they finish their one month orientation at the Nations Capital, Manila.
