Some publicly listed companies in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) announced already their schedules for their yearly stock holders meeting. Stock Traders who own shares of stock in the said companies will be allowed to attend these yearly events.
The Philippine Stock Exchange has been hit badly by the Credit Crisis in the US Financial Market brought about by reckless financial planning and investment choices in the property sector. Subprime loans are much to blame for the financial loses occurred by big investment houses. Wherein usually unsuitable candidates for housing loans were granted loans without collateral but with negotiable interest rates which upped the current rates when the debtors defaulted on regular payment. This resulted in a lot of bankruptcy filing on the part of homeowners.
But as with all things, what goes down must come up again. The recent gains by the stock exchange brought about by a renewed confidence in the local bourse due to a strong economy and strong influx of overseas dollars to the country were wiped out by the credit crisis. Even forex traders made the Philippine peso the darling in the forex trading community due to its strong performance against neighboring asian currencies. Hopefully as the good news of the US economy recovering comes in the local stock investor climate will pick up again.
