Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company’s are in Davao City to meet with the school administrators to discuss on how the schools can adequately prepare the students to the global outsourcing industry that the BPO’s are in. It is a mutually beneficial forum with each trying to address the others needs. BPO’s want labor for their companies and schools want workplaces for their graduates.
The meetup was entitled “BPO Human Resource & Recruitment Forum” and was organized by ICT Davao, Inc. This is the second forum organized by the group which aims to accelerate the development of Davao City as the leading information, communication and technology (ICT) hub in Mindanao.
The forum showcase trends in the BPO industry, more importantly the benchmarks in English language capability and other skills needed by the BPO’s. The Davao Academe can then used this data to improve their curricula to meet the worker requirements of the BPO industry.
XMG Asia Pacific, a BPO research company, said that Davao City is at par with Jakarta and Montevideo as premiere alternative off shoring sites.
Davao City’s workforce is estimated to be twice that of Cebu City, which is the second leading BPO destination in the Philippines after Metro Manila. Already there are a handful of BPO companies in Davao City in the form of Call Centers, Medical Transcription and Offshore Software Companies.
