Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc (DCCCII) sees more adoption of ICT by the Small to Medium Enterprises with the signing of a MOU between PLDT and DCCCII which offers said service to SME’s.
The MOU was signed last July 27 at the Apo View Hotel by DCCCII President Simeon Marfori II and PLDT SME Group head Katrina C. Luna Abelarde.
In the agreement both will provide services to aid SME’s. PLDT will provide affordable, practical, scalable and managed solutions while DCCII will provide the venue, linkages and technical skills.
This year DCCCII is focusing on improving sectoral growth performance of agriculture, tourism and ICT. Marfori said that adoption of ICT by SME’s is good for the industry because it improves overall productivity and allocation of resources.
Aside from PLDT, DCCCII is looking to tap Computer Hardware giant, IBM, to provide the server which could be used by SME’s.
The PLDT SME Nation Group was created early this January to help provide SMEs an IT platform. Of over the 300,000 SMEs in the Philippines, only 10-20% have internate access. Of that statistic, onlye 2 to 5% have websites of their own.
