The Davao Medical Center (DMC) said that the leading causes of death nowadays are due to diseases brought about by our lifestyle. These diseases are diabetes, hypertension, heart and kidney problems. In order to address this better, DMC is increasing its capacity.
DMC has a capacity of 400 beds but due to the sheer number of patients the DMC operates at 800 beds.
Dr. Leopoldo J. Vega, the chief of DMC, said that they are making DMC as a Center for Kidney and Heart Problems. The center has the capability to do heart surgery, angioplasty and other heart related treatments. The DMC is also equipped with 35 dialysis machines for people with kidney problems.
Dr. Vega said that they have a tie up with the manufacturer of the US made Fresencio dialysis machine that will enable them to bring the total of their dialysis machines to 65. The company will also put up a building where the additional machines will be placed and DMC can earn from the rental that clients pay during dialysis.
