Unemployed and Low Income issued Philhealth Cards at Davao del Norte

July 16th, 2008 --

Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario of Davao del Norte Provincial wanted all unemployed and low income earners in the Davao del Norte to be covered with health insurance via the Philippine Governments Philhealth Program. This will mean that hospitalization for them and their dependents can be covered by a monthly payment of P100 by their local government.

The endeavor can be considered a bit tricky at first because some congressmen and municipalities already have sponsored Philhealth health insurance for their constituents, but the Governor believes that it can be worked out.

The provincial government of Davao del Norte had already allocated P6 Million for the health insurance of its citizens in 2004 under Governor Del Rosario’s watch but this time under his recent re election he wants to cover a whole lot more people for Philhealth.

With the governments Universal Philhealth program, for a sum of P100/month one can be able to attain health insurance for hospitalization granting access to health care benefits to every Filipino. Every Philhealth card holder can extend coverage to five dependents who can also avail of hospitalization benefits, maternity care, new born care, Tubercolosis (TB) DOTS among others.

Each Philhealth member however has to remember to always pay their Philhealth Insurance regularly so as to be covered by this medical insurance. Failure to pay monthly could mean suspension of ones health insurance benefits.
