According to Cesar Ledesma, president of Cash Action for Sustainable and Healthy (CASH) Lifestyle Network, the recent melamine laced milk scandal from China has actually increased the demand for melamine free goats milk in a Davao goat farm.
The Lao Farm in Davao del Sur produces 8 to 10 gallons of milk per day, but now cannot meet the increased demand. He said that this is an indicator that more people would rather go for locally produced products this time. It also heightened their awareness of the importance of healthy living which is usually done by eating healthy foods and organic foods.
The sad reality however is that Davao City has only 20 producers of organic products.
He also said that despite the higher price in organic and healthy food products, their members are not deterred in following this healthy lifestyle.
