Davao to host Philippine Army Officer’s Entrance Exam

University of Mindanao in Matina will play host to the Mobile Testing Team of the Philippine Army Personnel Management Center between December 12-14, 2008 as they facilitate the Pre-Entry Examination for Officer Candidate Course (OCC), Officer Preparatory Course (OPC) and Candidate Soldier Course to qualified applicants.

Registration for the exam will be at the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1 on November 27 ~ 28, 2008. The following items are required during registration: Original NSO birth certificate, marriage contract of parents, transcript of records for college graduate/level and diploma for high school graduate. On exam day, the examinees are required to bring the same requirements as well as a valid ID, #2 pencil, sharpener and long brown ordinary folder.

Davao Patent Office informs public on the benefits of IPR

Small and medium entrepreneurs are being encouraged by the government to make use of Intellectual Property Rights to enhance their product and protect their product.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are intangible assets that an SME can apply for a patent because these are the product of the mind and the intellect of the individual. A IPR attached to a product can add more value to a product as well as being useful in protecting their ownership over it.

LTO releases new fees for penalties

Department Order No. 2008-39 was approved by Secretary Leandro Mendoza last August 26 which called for new fees for fines incurred by errant drivers.

National Plumbers Convention in Davao City

Davao City plays host on the 14th to 15th of November to plumbers of the Philippines as they hold their national convention. The event will be held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City.

National Master Plumbers Association of the Philippines, Inc (NAMPAP) convention chairman Engr. Efren T. Villamor said that the national gathering will be the venue for all plumbers to hear and discuss professional issues about the plumbing profession specifically on the approval of the amended Constitution and by-laws by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), induction of Chapters from the different areas of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and the Continuing Professional Education (CPE).

Home Loan Refinancing Bill to be signed on Monday

House Speaker Prospero C. Nograles said that Philippine President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, is set to sign into law, the housing loan anti-foreclosure program that would save some 368,535 delinquent housing loans from being evicted from their house. The total cost of the defaulted loans amounts to about P66.69-billion. This law will allow for housing loan refinancing for delinquent borrowers as well as condonation of accrued interest and penalties due to the remiss of payments. Sort of our version of a subprime loan bailout.

Cong. Nograles said that the anti-foreclosure law is opposite of the United States $700 Billion bailout package which provides credit to bankrupt investment houses and banks due to the subprime mortgage debacle.
