Reporters at the Davao Business Forum were told by Rosalinda E. Villaseca, Administrator of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), that financial management is critical to running the Cooperative.
Continuing education is needed to effectively run a cooperative. Of the 1,828 registered cooperatives, only 570 are active cooperatives. The inactive cooperatives are either undertaking rehabilitation or are otherwise being assessed.

SM City Davao plays host to a seminar on Autism which will benefit the public in knowing and understanding Autism. Autism is a psychological disorder and there are ways to dealing with autism.
The seminar is free and is titled: “Triumph Over Austism”. It will be held at Cinema 2 on September 27, 2008 from 8am to 12 noon.
International lecturer and author, Annabel Stehli, and her daughter, Georgiana Thomas, will share their experience in dealing with autism. Her daughter has been diagnosed with autism at the age of three.

Application for trainees in the Philippine Air Force Regular Officer Procurement Program (PAFROPP) has been recently opened.
In order to be accepted in the Air Force Training, applicants must be:
- Male or Female
- Must be a natural born citizen of of the Philippines
- Not a day older than 24 years old and not a day younger than 21 years old on 16 January 2009
- Must be single, never been married nor have any legal obligation to support a child or children
- Must be physically fit and of good moral character
- Must possess a height of at least 162.5 CMS (5′4″) for male and 157.5 CMS (5′2″) for Female
- Must have a Baccalaureate Degree from any government - recognized institution on or before the date of filing of his or her application for admission.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) undergraduate scholarships is now on going. The scholarships being offered is open to graduating high school students with high aptitude in science and technology and who are going to take up courses in basic or applied sciences, engineering and science teaching.
This is much different from student loans and similar loan packages because students don’t have to carry the burden of paying back the tuition fees spent on them.

During a League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) special meeting last Thursday, July 17, 2008. Mayors voted to regulate the scrap metal industry as opposed to a total ban of the burgeoning industry. Provincial lawyer Handel Lagunay, who shed his expertise at the meeting said a total ban may be unconstitutional being restrictive of free trade.
Tubigon Mayor Luna Piezas withdrew a motion against the junk and scrap metal business that would have prevented them from operating in their cities.
